π§ΌMATERIALSΒ - Soap, as unfragranced as possible. Basic liquid soap works well.Β - Lotion, as unfragranced & natural as possible. Shea butter works great.
π«β οΈDO NOT USE Vaseline, arnica, alcohol, or anything with hydrogen peroxide.Β
βDO NOT USE anything previously used, ESPECIALLY during the first few days when your skin is open. It could be contaminated.
π RULES AND INFORMATION:- Your tattoo is an open wound and is not permanent until it is healed. If a scab gets dry and comes away, the ink can too!- Do not let your tattoo dry out.- Wash your hands! Never touch your tattoo or let others touch your tattoo with unwashed hands.-Itching, flaking, redness, swelling, and soreness can and probably will occur. This is normal. An ice pack can be gently applied if the swelling is uncomfortable
.- DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK. If it gets itchy you can try patting it, or softly running your fingers along it on top of clothing, (that usually helps me).
- During the first few days of healing your tattoo may seep ink, blood, and/or plasma which may stain sheets and clothing.
- If you have a clear bandage it's normal to see ink and plasma seeping and spreading underneath.
- You can take light showers, just don't soak the tattoo.
β
- In the shower you may feel the tattoo sensitive to hotter water.
β
- Wear loose clothing over your tattoo to avoid friction, tightness, rubbing, and stickiness which may pull off scabs.
- Listen to your tattoo artist, not your friends, sibling, cousin, dog, neighbor, guy at the corner store. Any questions: call or message your tattoo artist (me!)Β
β€οΈ AFTERCARE STEPS:1) Clear bandage: Remove the bandage after 1 or 2 days. If necessary, you can keep the bandage on up to 5 days after. When removing, pull the skin taut and slowly/gently peel it away.2) Plastic Wrap: Remove the wrap the next morning and follow the instructions below
.π§Όπ€- Wash hands and wash the tattoo gently in a spiral motion with fingers removing ink, blood, and plasma. Rinse thoroughly.
β
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub back and forth. A cloth towel may have fibres/contaminants so paper is best
β
- Moisturize with a very thin layer of lotion.
- Repeat morning and night for the first 5-6 days.
- Repeat this process EVERY TIME your tattoo is exposed to dirt, sweating, or outside elements.
π§΄π Moisturize your tattoo several times a day for 3 weeks at least.
π€¬π¦ WATER EXPOSURE:Β - DO NOT soak your tattoo in the bathtub, lake, ocean, hot tub, or go swimming for 2 weeks at least.Β
π€¬βοΈ SUN EXPOSURE:Β - DO NOT tan or sunbathe during the healing process (approx. 3 weeks), and make sure to cover your tattoo in the sun. When it has healed you must apply sunblock to preserve your tattoo and keep it looking fresh and new. The UV light breaks down ink molecules in the skin and will fade your tattoo.
ββΌοΈ - The first few days and months of a tattooβs life are very important. The better you take care of your tattoo the better it will heal.
